Stinky Girl started the same way a lot of our products do, out of necessity. While working long, hot days in our commercial kitchen, I couldn’t find a natural deodorant that actually worked. So I learned how to make one myself, around the same time I was deep in learning fermentation.

Turns out, the principles overlap more than you’d think.

My jar puffed up or hissed when I opened it.

That's active fermentation making natural CO2, a good sign. Just "burp" the lid to release the gas and you're set.

There's fizz, cloudiness, or a little sediment.

All completely normal for raw, unpasteurized ferments. It's the live culture doing its job. Keep it cold, give it a gentle swirl, and dig in.

It arrived at room temperature.

No problem. The natural acidity of a live ferment keeps it safe without refrigeration for the length of a normal shipping trip. Pop it in the fridge on arrival.
